Hadith of Izar

~ Beware!  It's Not only about Moosa a.s, but Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) too..~

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah :
While Allah's Messenger was carrying stones along with the people of Makkah for (building of) Kaaba wearing an Izar (waist sheet cover), his uncle Abbas said to him " O my nephew !  (it would be better) if you take off your Izar and put it over your shoulders underneath the stones " . So he took off his Izar and put it over his shoulders, but he fell down unconscious and since then he had never been seen naked (after that day)

Different versions :

"... He fell on the ground with his eyes (open) towards the sky and said  " give me my Izar "  and he covered himself with it.

[  Bukhari, 2/146 # 1582 ]

.. " when he woke up, he said ' my Izar, my Izar.!  Then his Izar was tied upon him.."

[ Bukhari, 5/41 # 3829 ; Muslim, 1/267 # 76(340)]

- Some narrations says :
While prophet was lifting the stones he lifted his lower garment and kept on his shoulder, as the garment was small, his private part was exposed. Then a voice was heard " O Muhammad cover your private part " . After that he was not seen naked (again).

- Some narrations say :
" Prophet said I was lifting the stones with which some lads were playing, we all had placed our Lower garment on our shoulder on which we were placing the stones. We all had become naked. I was going ahead like that, then suddenly someone hit me very hard and said " Tie your lower cloth"  then I tied it.
( Suhayli says " if this Narration is sahih then the incident of his nakedness has occurred twice. Once in his childhood and once during construction of Kaba).

- Some says "  An angel came and tied his cloth  "

Etc etc...

- All other insulting narrations don't even need to be addressed as one can clearly reject them out rightly looking at mutoon.( weak in themselves by chains too)

- The fuss will be made only about it being mentioned in Bukhari Muslim.

- For the sake of " Adab, Sanctity, greatness...."  of Sahihayn one may not care about " Adab, Sanctity, Greatness of Best of the creations ".

So, here we go  :

- The most relied upon statement from Tarikh is, Construction of Kaba(mentioned in this narration) took place 5 years before Declaration of Prophethood. That means Prophet was 35 years old at that time.

- How sensible it is that, Uncle of 35 year old Prophet will ask him to remove his lower garment publicly ?

- And how sensible it is to believe that The most modest and best mannered person in whole world would do that ?

So love and adab for Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam doesn't allow to accept this Matan even if it's sanad is ' Sahih '. This story is against the Honour of The Prophet and hence incorrect.

* Technical Problem :

- Narrator of this alleged incident is Jabir bin Abdullah r.a

- His age was 2 years at the time of this alleged incident.
And he was in Madina. Whereas incident is about construction of kaba ( i,e in Makkah).

- Ibn Hajar Asqalani also termed it " Mursal " ( Fath ul Bari, 3/150)
